Cebu City, continuing its mission of making life’s journey’s better for the Filipino motorist.
Shell’s first next-generation retail station in the Philippines, opened its doors in Cebu City, on Mango Avenue earlier this year. It’s designed to be a comfortable for people in neighboring communities to come together. It’s the energy leader’s thrust to enhance its stations with features and experiences that go beyond gassing up.
The new Shell Banilad Station follows this blueprint, and officially opened its doors last December 4.
“For 105 years, Shell has kept its commitment to nation-building, hand in hand with the Filipino people,” Pilipinas Shell Retail General Manager Anthony Lawrence Yam shared.
“Shell sees a lot of opportunity here in Cebu, not just with the greater availability of our Best Ever Fuels but with its complete suite of offers. We see the potential of the Cebu market and we will continue to be its partner in enabling its growth for years to come,” he added.
Shell Banilad spearheads Shell’s continuing commitment to invest in Cebu. This station opening is accompanied by a continuous expansion and upgrade of Shell’s network in the city – in just a few months at least seven stations have been upgraded with Select convenience stores.
In turn, Shell Global Network Planning Manager Randy Del Valle noted that Shell not only aims to provide energy in a responsible manner as their way of respecting people, their safety, and the government, they aim to continue listening to the ever-changing needs of the communities they serve.
He also added that, aside from the usual gas station services like fuel, and convenience stores, the next-generation stations will provide an enhanced retail experience so Shell stations could mean more than just fueling up your car.
“This is how we plan to do things moving forward. We will engage with our customers on a deeper level in order to better provide the things that they are looking for,” del Valle noted.
For Pilipinas Shell District Manager for Visayas, Rolyn Mae Tomarong said that the station was designed with customer in mind. It features an innovative business model that allows local homegrown brands to be offered in Shell stations, and enables the company to offer a range of retail experiences. “Featuring homegrown products like Mader’s Ngohiong to highlight the local flavor of Cebu, the two-story Select at the second floor of Shell Banilad offers a great place to dine and enjoy the company of friends.” Tomarong reveals. Shell’s next-generation stations takes it a step further with green, sustainable features in line with Shell’s move to create a more sustainable way to do business.
Shell Banilad’s solar panels will cut down energy costs by 36% and help cut down its carbon footprint, while the green self-irrigating plant wall and rainwater collector will reduces dependence on fresh water to maintain a green and inviting environment in the station.
The station fully utilizes LED lighting and inverter technology for chillers to be more energy efficient.
“We are truly proud and excited to bring another next-gen station to our beloved Cebuano customers,” Del Valle added.
