ASSIST, LMP, and Signify Foundation have partnered for the Sinag-Pag-Asa Project, providing solar-powered lighting to disaster-prone communities in Regions 1, 2, and CAR.
Quezon City, Philippines - April 02, 2025 - Quezon City, Philippines, March 26, 2025 – ASSIST and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), with the support of Signify Foundation, formalized their partnership for the Sinag-Pag-Asa Project at the LMP office in Quezon City. This initiative aims to bring sustainable solar-powered lighting to municipalities vulnerable to extreme weather conditions, enhancing community resilience and disaster preparedness.
Daren Torres, ASSIST Project Management Lead, together with Andrew Yan, Signify Philippines Government Affairs Head and Andrea Loriaga, LMP Executive Director, committed to helping address the needs of disaster-prone communities in Regions 1, 2, and CAR to build safer and more sustainable communities. The turnover marks a milestone in ensuring that critical spaces such as evacuation centers, schools, and hospitals are equipped with reliable light sources.
A Brighter Future for Communities in Need
"This initiative is more than just providing solar-powered lights—it’s about empowering communities to withstand challenges and thrive despite adversities. By working together, we can create safer spaces for Filipinos," said Andrew Yan, Head of Government Affairs, Signify Philippines Inc.
Andrea Loriaga, Executive Director of LMP, also emphasized the impact of the program, “Sinag-Pag-Asa is a testament to how partnerships between the public and private sectors can bring real, lasting change to our communities. We are eager to see the positive outcomes of this initiative in the municipalities we serve.”
Echoing this sentiment, Francis Macatulad, Director for Programs of ASSIST, highlighted the broader impact of the program: “Beyond enhancing safety and disaster preparedness, these solar-powered lights serve as beacons of opportunity—enabling livelihoods, fostering education, improving healthcare services, and strengthening community resilience.
