Post ReleaseRemoteGenies joins HICOOL 2025, bringing world-class Filipino freelancers to the global stage.
From Manila to the world—RemoteGenies earns a spot at HICOOL 2025, proving that Filipino freelancers are not just competitive, but world-class. With AI-powered vetting, built-in accountability, and a mission to educate, this startup is rewriting the rules of remote work.
Beijing, China — May 18, 2025 — RemoteGenies, the first freelance marketplace built by Filipinos for Filipinos, proudly announced its selection and participation in the preliminary round of the HICOOL 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Summit. The team delivered its pitch today at 6:55 PM Beijing time, impressing judges with a bold vision: to revolutionize freelance work globally while empowering Filipino talent and changing lives through education.
RemoteGenies is not just another gig platform. It offers global clients access to pre-vetted, highly-skilled Filipino freelancers, matched by category and experience level, and supported by a dedicated Project Coordinator to ensure quality and accountability. The platform spans over 400 skill sets, including design, admin support, marketing, development, and more.
But what truly sets RemoteGenies apart is its mission. Through its GenieScholar initiative, every 200 hours worked on the platform sponsors one Filipino child’s education for a full year—proving that freelance work can be both profitable and impactful.
“RemoteGenies isn’t trying to be the next Upwork—we’re building the anti-Upwork,” said Deanna Visperas, Founder and CEO of RemoteGenies. “We believe in quality, community, and social impact. And being chosen by HICOOL validates our mission to bring Filipino excellence to the global stage.”
The HICOOL Global Entrepreneurship Summit, organized by the Beijing municipal government, is one of the world’s most prestigious startup competitions. With over $10 million USD in total prize money, the top winners will receive up to ¥1 million RMB (~$140,000 USD) in equity-free cash grants, alongside access to mentorship, investor introductions, and landing support in China. Winners will be announced at the Grand Finals in Beijing in October 2025 (planned).
RemoteGenies is currently seeking to win the competition to scale operations, enhance its AI-powered matching technology, and enter high-growth markets across the U.S. and Asia. With over 30,000 freelancers and thousands of clients already on board, the team is on a mission to reimagine the future of remote work—and make a lasting impact while doing it.
“Every pitch, every task, every child we help through GenieScholar—this is bigger than business,” Visperas added. “It’s about making purpose and profit work together. We’re ready to take this vision global.”
