PLDT and Smart Foster a Culture of Safety Through Fire Brigade Training
PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. prioritize safety with a recent Fire Brigade Training conducted in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao City. Beyond regulatory compliance, this initiative underscores the companies' commitment to proactive risk management and preparedness.

PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), recently organized a Fire Brigade Training for employees, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao City. Aside from ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, this collaboration reflects the group's proactive approach to mitigating fire-related risks and developing a culture of preparedness within the organization.
“In addition to adhering to fire safety regulations, cultivating a culture of safety is very important. We also want to extend the knowledge to our employees so they will be equipped and prepared as they safeguard the workplace and the community against the unexpected,” said Claro Landeta, Head of Mindanao Facilities Management at PLDT.

Employee volunteers also received hands-on training for basic life support, emergency rescue, and emergency management.
Hussain Pangato, Network Service Operations Senior Specialist, attended the training for the first time as an employee volunteer. “I am glad that the company has training programs like this,” he shared. “It helps us to know basic first aid and fire rescue which can be helpful when disasters arise.”

These initiatives reflect PLDT and Smart's commitment to creating a #SafeandSmart Philippines through the continuous availability of communication services, mobile solutions and activities, and relief assistance to help communities mitigate disaster risks. The initiative also underscores the commitment of PLDT and Smart to attaining UN SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
