Music mogul and Popolo Music Group CEO aims to spotlight Filipino talent on
the world stage.
Manila, Philippines – Paul “Pooh” Lunt, the elusive music entrepreneur who
famously licensed the global mega-hit Gangnam Style, is making a bold
move to position the Philippines as the next epicenter of Asian pop music.
As President and CEO of Popolo Music Group, Lunt is building a
full-scale platform to identify, develop, and launch Filipino artists
internationally. His new label will focus on providing original, globally
competitive material written and produced by a seasoned international team. His
upcoming venture, Popolo Live, will serve as a global concert promotions
arm, securing international performance venues for Filipino acts.
“The Philippines is the largest English-speaking country in Asia, rich in
musical talent and cultural influence. It’s time the global industry took
notice,” says Lunt.
Lunt, who began his career as a chef before pivoting to music, is known
for his private nature and strategic acumen. His latest goal is to create a
“Filipino Wave” of pop—distinct from K-pop yet globally resonant.
Pop icon Sarah Geronimo is at the top of his collaboration wishlist.
Early talks are underway, and final ideas will be presented to Viva
Records for a potential joint project that would elevate her onto the
international stage.
With infrastructure, talent, and global experience now aligned, Paul
Lunt is betting big on Filipino music—and the world is starting to listen.
