Majayjay held the town’s first-ever art exhibit
The Local Government Unit of Majayjay, Laguna recently held the town’s first-ever art exhibit that ran for two weeks. The event that was lodged at the Municipal Hall Annex was spearheaded the Majayjay-based Banahaw Artists Association Inc. (BAAI). It was well attended by the municipal officials led by Mayor Romeo Amorado, business owners and potential investors in Majayjay, as well as friends and followers of BAAI.
Governor Ramil Hernandez and his wife Congresswoman Ruth Mariano Hernandez sent their respective representatives, Mr. Dennis Villavecer (Executive Assistant in charge of Public Affairs) and Mr. Peter Uckung (Provincial Division Chief of History, Arts and Culture) to the opening ceremony. Seventeen 17 BAAI members participated in the exhibit with a total of 83 exhibit items, in different media and form. Included are some paintings collected by BAAI from the past two on-the-spot painting contests held in 2022 and 2023 as part of Majayjay’s Anilinang Festival. Through the exhibit, BAAI aims to promote artistic talent and cultural appreciation. Since it is a fund-raising exhibit, the event will also provide financial support to the participating artists and enable BAAI to continue its art projects for the community.
Being the first-ever art exhibit in Majayjay, both LGU and BAAI are hopeful that this will surely uplift the spirit of Majayjayeňos, seeing that the town has plenty of talented artists. The participating members consist of painters, musicians, photographers, and a sculptor. The BAAI Officers are Nannette Guinto Amorado (BAAI Founder / CEO), Calvert Sobreviňas (Corporate Secretary), Jimuel Miraber (Chief Finance Officer), Freya Javier Jocson (Auditor) and Jethro Jocson (Artistic Director). The rest of the participating members are: Raffiele Arquiza, Michelle Breganza, Clark Brent Exequiel Ceria, Christian John Cruz, John Rell Deladia, Norelyn Codera Dorado, Veronica Dorneo, Russel Lagubana, Jetro Piolo Llagas, Ron Natividad, Jinggoy Salcedo, and Fedebel Joice Tungohan. BAAI is a non-stock, non-profit organization, approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission in August 2022. Its purpose, among others, is to contribute to the human, social and economic development of Majayjay through arts and culture. It is now one of the accredited Civil Society Organizations of LGU Majayjay. #Majayjay #MayorRomyAmorado #SalgadoPR
