Post ReleasePAL updates in-flight power bank rules for safer travel
Philippine Airlines has revised its power bank guidelines in compliance with CAAP regulations to enhance passenger safety.
Attention: All Philippine Airlines passengers
As part of our safety precautions on board and in line with the Civil Aviation Aeronautics Board’s (CAAP)’s memorandum, we have updated our guidelines for carrying and using power banks in all PAL flights:
• Auxiliary batteries, spare lithium-ion batteries (not installed in a device), and power banks must NOT be placed in overhead bins or checked-in baggage.
• These are only allowed as carry-on items. Store them in a bag that stays with you, in the seat pocket or under the seat in front of you.
• Powerbanks must not exceed 160Wh.
No approval required: Up to 100Wh (limited to 20 pieces only)
Approval required: 101Wh to 160Wh (limited to 2 pieces only)
Note: Wh = (mAh x Voltage) / 1000
• Pack them individually to prevent short circuits
• Charging of power banks is strictly prohibited throughout the flight
For a list of other restricted items, please visit: https://www.philippineairlines.com/ph/en/before-you-fly/baggage-information/restricted-items.html.
We highly encourage you to adhere to the above guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe flight.
