The new facility is equipped with 4G LTE, the fourth generation of broadband cellular network technology, which offers high bandwidth, lower latency, and improved network capacity. With 4G LTE, residents of Brgy. Dado can now call, text, and browse the internet.

Located between Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur, the mountainous barangay of Dado in Alamada, Cotabato was, for a long time, cut off from the rest of the country due to the absence of telecommunications facilities.

Despite its large land area, the barangay only has a population of 12,000. People tend to stay away since they have no means of communicating with their friends, family, and business associates outside the area.

However, this all changed with the recent construction of a Globe cell tower.  The new facility is equipped with 4G LTE, the fourth generation of broadband cellular network technology, which offers high bandwidth, lower latency, and improved network capacity.  With 4G LTE, residents of Brgy. Dado can now call, text, and browse the internet.

“Nakaramdam po kami ng ginhawa kasi nakakatawag na kami, maka-internet na kami.  Marami nang gustong tumira dito kasi may cell site na tayo ng Globe.  Marami na ang ibang lugar na ma-contact natin.  Malaki talaga ang pakinabang namin kasi natayuan kami ng tower ng Globe,” shared Barangay Captain Antonio Carmino, Sr.

Not content with one tower, Carmino is open to having additional cell sites to cover the whole barangay.  He also committed to protect the cell sites from lawless elements.

“Mag-support kami na protektahan talaga namin yung tower ng Globe para matugunan na malagyan pa kami ng isang cell site para kung ano man problema dumating sa amin dito.  Malawak kasi ang Brgy. Dado,” he explained.

On the other hand, Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group, expressed gratitude to local governments which support Globe’s efforts to build telecom infrastructure all around the country to achieve a #1stWorldNetwork.

“As the Philippines moves towards digitalization, connectivity has become the lifeline of many Filipinos.  We will continue to put up new cell sites in places that need them most to give equal opportunity to all,” he said.

With its mission to deliver #1stWorldNetwork connectivity to Filipinos, Globe ramped up its new cell site builds for the year.  The company uses 4G LTE and 5G wireless technologies for faster download and upload, higher bandwidth, and low latency, among other benefits. Aside from these, Globe completed 82 in-building solutions or IBS to provide quality indoor coverage to customers for better mobile signals.

Globe’s 5G outdoor coverage in the National Capital Region has now reached 95% and is already present in over 1,900 locations in the country as of end-September. Globe is helping migrate its customers to 5G-enabled devices and offering free SIM 4G LTE/5G so that customers can experience the power of the new technology.

Globe strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically UN SDG No. 9, which aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation. It is committed to upholding the United Nations Global Compact principles and contributing to 10 UN SDGs.
