Post ReleaseEach paw print tells a story at PAWS where 70+ years of rescue has turned tears into tail wags
In a significant move to support animal welfare, dog supplement company Canine Science visited PAWS shelter, witnessing firsthand the organization's dedication to giving rescued pets second chances.
Manila, Philippines - February 19, 2025 - Canine Science, a company with globally certified and vet-approved dog supplements, visited Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to strengthen animal care initiatives and support rescued pets.
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), established in 1954, recently welcomed Canine Science last Thursday, December 12, 2024 in Quezon City through a meaningful visit to support animal welfare.
PAWS, a registered non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and humane treatment of all animals, showcased their commitment to providing second chances to rescued pets.
During the visit, PAWS Education & Campaigns Officer Ms. Sharon Yap highlighted the organization's essential role in animal welfare and their compliance with strict operational standards, including their Bureau of Animal Industry License to Operate (BAI LTO).
During the shelter tour, Ms. Sharon Yap emphasized spaying and neutering as core advocacies in responsible pet care.
This crucial practice helps control the pet population humanely while ensuring better health for animals in their care.
The visit revealed PAWS's unique approach to animal care, where most dogs and cats coexist in shared spaces, demonstrating their successful rehabilitation program.
Ms. Yap explained that this arrangement reflects their animals' readiness for adoption, though some require special accommodation due to health conditions or rehabilitation needs.
Among the many touching stories shared, one particularly stood out – a remarkable dog named Liesl who, despite losing both eyes and enduring previous abuse, maintained an unconditional love, forgiveness, and hope to reconnect with kind and compassionate humans.
This dog's resilience embodies the very essence of PAWS's mission.
Ms. Sharon emphasized that they aren't accessories or social status symbols because they're family members deserving of lifelong commitment.
Responsible pet ownership means looking past ‘damage control' to see the unconditional love waiting to be shared.
That's why PAWS tirelessly champions education against these misconceptions, ensuring every dog finds a home built on understanding and genuine care.
As part of their commitment to supporting animal welfare, Canine Science contributed essential supplies including dog food, cat food, and cleaning materials to support PAWS's daily operations.
The Canine Science team fully embraced the opportunity to connect with the shelter animals. Half of the team spent quality time in the cat area, playing and socializing with the rescued felines.
Meanwhile, others discovered a unique way to calm the dogs by reading books to them, creating peaceful moments of connection between humans and animals.
These simple yet meaningful interactions highlighted how even small acts of kindness can brighten an animal's day.
PAWS, which operates with the belief "People Helping Animals, Animals Helping People," demonstrates this philosophy through their comprehensive programs designed to promote humane treatment of all animals.
Their facility, operating under strict BAI LTO standards, showcases their dedication to maintaining high-quality care for their rescued animals. The shared goals between Canine Science and PAWS represents a shared vision for better animal welfare in the Philippines.
Dogs should live forever, as we always believe in Canine Science.
And even if this is not the reality, we will always strive to make dogs’ lives healthy and happy and have meaningful years with their loving dog parents.
