DHL Express bolsters operations with new tu7nel dual-view screening system, exceptional image quality, and threat detection alert capabilities for inbound and outbound inspection of palletized cargo at its Manila airport office.

DHL Express Philippines' new X-ray machine equipment

DHL Express, the world's leading international express service provider, has acquired new screening equipment for its operations in the Philippines. The new equipment will be used at its Manila airport office to inspect incoming and outgoing palletized goods and cargo.

Due to higher volumes of shipment, DHL Express has upgraded its screening equipment that can scan shipments at a faster rate, and with more precision, to better support the operations and compliance teams. This latest investment highlights DHL Express’ dedication to innovation, service excellence and compliance. The new equipment is equipped with cutting-edge screening technology that adheres to domestic and international regulations. The high detection accuracy will help ensure any attempt to ship illegal items and dangerous commodities across the network is quickly spotted. This also supports the local Philippine Bureau of Customs’ mandate to strengthen border security.

"We take our role in border security very seriously and ensure that we remain a secure and trusted network for our customers,” said Nigel Lockett, Country Manager at DHL Express Philippines. “This advanced detection system is the first for the year, and we will continue upgrading our operational technology by adding six new equipment in Manila, Ortigas, and Cebu.

The new machine is a high-performance 1010mm by 1010mm tunnel dual-view screening system with exceptional image quality and threat detection alert capabilities. This can now display pictures in Classic 4-color and the new proprietary Spectrum 4-color (SP4) options, providing higher image quality. This enables the customs compliance officers to detect non-compliant shipments with speed and precision.
Target and NARCScan are designed to detect a broad spectrum of explosives and drugs in real-time during scanning by highlighting a possible hazard on the X-ray picture. Rapiscan® Systems detection algorithms are based on material analysis procedures that have been authorized by regulatory authorities.

The new dual-mode feature aids in the accurate and quick identification of organic materials, either in range mode, which highlights the areas based on the range selected by the operator, or in interactive mode, which gives the operator the option to display the areas based on the value of the pixel. This type of X-ray equipment can be found at a variety of DHL facilities.

This initiative is part of DHL Express' commitment to timely movement of cargo and maintaining a reliable and secure network for cross-border trade.
