Cebu International School Welcomes New Superintendent, Mr. Peter Welch

Cebu City, Philippines - September 10, 2025 - Cebu, Philippines – Cebu International School (CIS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Peter Welch as Superintendent, beginning with the 2025–26 academic year.

Mr. Welch brings with him extensive leadership experience in international education, having served as head of four IB World Schools across the globe, most recently in Bucharest, Romania, where he led a dynamic school of more than 900 students. His career has also taken him to Singapore and Thailand, making his return to Southeast Asia both significant and meaningful for him and his wife, Suzanne.

“We chose Cebu International School because of its size and the special quality of this warm community,” Mr. Welch shared. “I joined a school in good heart with exciting potential to grow and develop. This year, I look forward to leading future planning discussions with the whole community to inspire the next chapter for CIS. I want to hear from families, students, and staff, to listen to ideas about how our school can best prepare children to thrive in this fast-changing world.”

CIS opened its doors for the 2025–26 school year on August 7, welcoming Mr. Welch alongside thirteen new faculty members who joined the school’s diverse staff. With his leadership, CIS is poised to strengthen its mission of empowering students to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.
