Post ReleaseThis agritech start-up based in Metro Manila, is solving deep supply chain issues for farmers.
MooMart, a Philippine startup that is attempting to connect farmers to buyers across the nation and outside countries, is rapidly growing with thousands of farms and businesses ready to join its mission.
TAGUIG, METRO MANILA, OCT 2—Manila based business-to-business fresh produce marketplace MooMart secures additional farmer partnerships with Benguet Cooperative Producers, Beyond Fresh by Don Avelino, Heart of Harvest Hydroponics Farm, Metro Farms and Kaja Berde among others to serve the Metro Manila area in its launch in 2023.
Founded earlier this year by 28 year old founder, Eric Choe, MooMart aims to build a suite of products that addresses the inefficiencies in the agri supply chain, and improve the lives of all stakeholders, especially Filipino farmers. It will start with a marketplace that enables businesses like street vendors (sari sari stores), restaurants, resellers and chefs to procure fresh produce. Buyers will now be able to find farmers seamlessly through MooMart and source their produce directly from these farms.
Started just one month ago, MooMart has captured over 500+ farm partnerships and 400+ businesses across the Metro Manila area on its waitlist during its current pre-launch
“There’s a huge need in the Philippines for our farmers and our end-consumers to connect. It’s an extremely inefficient supply chain at the moment—and we plan to solve this issue. Our business has been growing rapidly and on track to reach 1,000+ farmer partnerships and 1,000+ businesses on our waitlist by the time we launch in the beginning of 2023 - and this still represents a very small percentage of the overall market. What we’re most excited about is helping our farmers now be able to sell thousands of kilos of produce to reduce our ongoing food waste and oversupply problems.”
The Philippine startup plans to expand its coverage from Metro Manila to its surrounding areas like Pampanga, Batangas, Laguna among others during its pilot launch. They’re currently in talks to secure additional funding to expand across all major cities in the Philippines and connect to outside countries looking for Philippine produce.
“We’re the leading nation in terms of rice and corn production. Countries like Singapore, Taiwan, China and others can utilize MooMart’s platform to source their products from our farmers at scale. We see a huge and sizable opportunity to help the Philippines become the leader and frontrunner in exports through the digitization of our agri supply chain.”
Moving forward, MooMart is set to tackle this issue and pave the way for other agriculture institutions and agritech start-ups attempting to serve this sector. By providing an online marketplace for farmers and buyers, MooMart benefits local farmers, helps prevent food waste, and ultimately helps save the environment.
MooMart’s website will be operational later this year. For more news and updates on the startup’s launch, make sure to follow MooMart on Facebook.
