Post ReleaseLeads 5G-A Evolution at MWC 2025
Huawei gathered global industry leaders at MWC 2025 to discuss 5G-Advanced, AI integration, and new monetization models.
At MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Huawei held its "5G-Advanced Industry Evolution" summit. Global industry leaders, ecosystem partners, and operators discussed opportunities and challenges in the mobile AI era for the 5G-Advanced (5G-A) industry. Participants shared their viewpoints on the 5G/5G-A evolution, changes brought by AI new connections, and valuable traffic, as well as their commercial practices in the transition from traffic monetization to experience monetization.
Ritchie Peng, President of Huawei's ICT Strategy & Business Development Dept, said: "The commercial deployment of 5G has fueled the growth of short video and live streaming services, driving steady revenue growth for telecom operators. As networks evolve from 5G to 5G-Advanced, the traditional traffic-centric business model is transitioning to a user experience-based approach, prioritizing personalized services and differentiated offerings. Concurrently, the deep integration of AI with the mobile industry is accelerating this transformation, unlocking new growth opportunities."
For opportunities and challenges in the mobile industry, analysts shared their industry insights on the transition from traffic monetization to experience monetization. AI terminal vendors believe that the integration of AI with mobile devices will accelerate the expansion of the number of connections, and create multi-dimensional network requirements. Representatives from European assessment institutions said faster uplink, lower latency, and higher reliability are key to support diversified AI services. Networks will need to become service- and experience-oriented.
During the summit, operators from the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and South Africa shared their experiences and best practices in 5G and 5G-A network deployment: Thailand's AIS shared its 5G experience packages designed for different demographics and scenarios, achieving nearly 200,000 packages activation. South Africa's operator emphasized the importance of network technology investments for sustained 5G commercial success. Through coordinated 4G/5G network development, they achieved growth in saturated markets and attracted more users with differentiated network services. Macao's CTM shared successful collaboration experiences with Huawei, noting that introducing 5G-Advanced will bring more possibilities to industries. They also highlighted AI's potential in addressing network latency and complexity challenges, showcasing innovative market growth practices such as gaming modes and dedicated network services.
After the summit, David Li, Vice President of Huawei Wireless Network Product Line, said, "The mobile AI era is here. New AI-powered terminals and applications create huge opportunities for operators. Huawei's all-scenario flexible deployment solution, featuring ultimate performance, simplified structure, and energy efficient, will empower operators to build higher-quality and multi-dimensional network capabilities. This enables experience-centric monetization models and supports operators in securing sustained commercial success throughout the 5G and 5G-A era."
MWC Barcelona 2025 is held from March 3 to March 6 in Barcelona, Spain. During the event, Huawei will showcase its latest products and solutions at stand 1H50 in Fira Gran Via Hall 1.
In 2025, commercial 5G-Advanced deployment will accelerate, and AI will help carriers reshape business, infrastructure, and O&M. Huawei is actively working with carriers and partners around the world to accelerate the transition towards an intelligent world.
